This has been an amazing year for Vanessa Mdee. She won big at the AFRIMMA Awards as the Best Female East African Artist. Prior to that, she was nominated for the MTV MAMAs as The Best Female African artist. Even though she did not win, she is still one of the biggest stars on the continent.

Last weekend on Coke Studio Africa she took to the stage with her partner in crime 2Face Idibia. It was a lively performance that saw two of the finest African talents come together in Synergy. 2Face is a BET award winning singer who is one of the founding singers of Afrobeat music.

This has been an amazing year for Vanessa Mdee. She won big at the AFRIMMA Awards as the Best Female East African Artist.

2 Face has been in the game for almost a decade now. Having worked with the likes of Mary J. Blige, R. Kelly and T-Pain, he brings unbeatable creativity into the mix. Their mash-up for Kiss Of Live/Come Over was just extraordinary. “Kiss Of Life” is 2Face Idibia’s song, a jam he wrote when he had a crush and all he wanted was a kiss. Vanessa Mdee’s “Come Over” is the first bilingual song to top charts in Tanzania.

Developing Story: Terror Drill Goes Horribly Wrong, Leaves Strathmore Students Injured

A terror attack drill carried out at Strathmore Business School, left some students at the institution injured. It was conducted by the police in an attempt to see how the students and lecturers would react to the emergency. Some students could be seen hanging from windows while others ran away from the compound to take cover.

“It was a mock exercise,” Japheth Koome, a police commander told Reuters. “We wanted to check on alertness of emergency services.”

This Is Why Controversial Blogger Robert Alai Needs Your Help More Than Ever

Controversial Blogger Robert Alai’s brother, Tom is missing. Tom Alai, who was last seen on Thursday in Kinoo, Kiambu County at around 7 PM, is said to have been knocked down by a motorist who later picked him and took him to a hospital, but attempts by his family to trace him have not been successful.

According to his brother Robert Alai, the family has searched for him in several hospitals but they still can’t find him. They have now taken to his Facebook Page, appealing to Kenyans to help them find his brother. Here is what he wrote;

“I have an APPEAL. My brother Tom Alai has been missing since Thursday 26th November. He was last spotted at the Kinoo stage on the same evening (around 7pm) crossing the road from the National Oil petrol station.

He was REPORTEDLY knocked down by a speeding motorist while crossing Waiyaki Way. Witnesses report that the motorist then drove off with him claiming that he was rushing him to hospital. We have checked at Kikuyu, Thogoto, St Teresa, Kiambu, Tigoni and KNH without success.

If you have information about an unidentified patient in an hospital, please get in touch. If you know where Tom is, please get in touch too.

Tom is famously referred to as Josi, Odhiambo or Onyango by those who know him in different circumstances. Please call 0708-677607 if you have any information about where Tom might be.”

Police have dismissed claims that a Nissan Matatu lost control and plunged into the Indian Ocean at Nyali Bridge on Sunday morning.

According to the area traffic commander, Martin Kariuku, a Toyota surf vehicle on a high speed was trying to overtake a salon car when it hit the bars at the bridge but it didn’t plunge into the ocean.

Top Kenyan Photographer Robbed Off Expensive Valuables At Gun Point

Popular Kenyan photographer Peter Cacah was yesterday robbed off expensive valuables at his studio which is based on Koinange Street in broad daylight.

According to the photographer, two gentlemen pretending to be clients walked into his studio and pulled out a gun, tied him up then walked away with his cameras and laptop.

November 28th, 2015 is a day I will never forget. I was busy going on with my studio work when at about 2:30pm two men got in the studio and pretended to be clients. In less than a minute one of them pulled out a gun from a student folder and they told me to comply with their orders. All of a sudden three more walked in as one of them started punching me and telling me not to look at them. The next thing is I found myself lying on the floor and they started tying me up and taping me on my head. I had just sent my assistant for a quick bite as we had a few more shoots before we closed.

“They then took my keys and locked me up in our changing room. I managed to remove the tape from my mouth and shouted for help. Lucky enough one of the guards heard me and had to use a ladder to get in and rescue me. By then they had already left with my phone, camera with all my lenses and my laptop. Thank God I always back up my clients work in different places, all my work is intact. As you go to church please pray for our nation, these guys are doing this just because there are no jobs or anything to keep them busy. I really thank God for my life and having the chance to see one more day. I also want to thank my family and friends for the quick response and the encouragement you’ve given me. Just like the scriptures say I believe that the darkest hour is just before dawn. I believe that good things are lined up for me. GOD BLESS.”

The education system in Kenya is unintentionally churning out employees instead of employers, workers instead of Entrepreneurs, “microwave” solutions instead of grind-oriented youth.

Unemployment is at its peak and still rising. We have an influx of book-smart, street dumb kids, socialized to believe someone else is responsible for their success and that they’re too young to worry about the day after or worse the future.

This Generation Z(and to a significant extent Gen Y) are accustomed to quick solutions, get rich quick traps, cutting corners and waiting for that “1 Deal”.

Why The Pope Will Not Wear A Bullet Proof Vest In CAR

One of the countries that Pope Francis will visit is The Central African Republic. Amidst the security fears since he is touring a war-torn country, he will not wear a bullet proof vest. His spokesman Father Federico Lombardi has confirmed the visit.

“The pope wants to go to the Central African Republic. The plan continues to be to go to the Central African Republic. We are all working in that direction. And, like any wise person would do, we are monitoring the situation,” he said. “As things stand now, we plan to go to Central Africa.”

There were speculations that The Pope wold have to wear a bullet proof vest during the visit. However, Father Lombardi has refuted the claims.

After crying out loud to the government to grant them a holiday, Kenyans can now smile. The government has declared 26th November a public holiday. Through a statement from the statehouse’s spokesperson Manoah Esipisu, the government has declared Thursday a public holiday and a National Day of Prayer and Reflection ahead of the much-anticipated Papal visit to the country.

The Pope is expected in the country tomorrow evening. Below is the statement;

“The Government of Kenya has declared 26th November 2015 a Public Holyday and a National Day of Prayer and Reflection.

As we are privileged to be hosting His Holiness the Pope at the time, he will set the tone for the day.”
