However, their efforts were thwarted by the officers on duty, when they opened fire and managed to shoot dead the three women. Before they were gunned down, however, they managed to stab one of the officers with a knife and petrol-bomb the station as well. But that was the end of the road for them.
Police have since arrested the widow of slain controversial Muslim preacher Sheikh Aboud Rogo. Haniya Said Sagaar was arrested when detectives raided her home at Kikambala in Mombasa last evening.

Police say they intercepted communication between her and the three women before they were killed when they stormed the police station. According to police, phone records retrieved by detectives indicate that Haniya was in constant communication with Ramla Hussein Abdilrahman, the mastermind of the attack.
