Over 200 minors were arrested on Tuesday after they were caught imbibing alcohol and smoking bhang at Jerry City discotheque which is located on Dubois Road in downtown Nairobi.
Nairobi Central OCPD Paul Wanjama said the 230 boys and girls of school going age will be arraigned in court Wednesday morning. he also hinted that parents and guardians of these minors could also be liable to fines for allowing their children to enter the bar unsupervised.
“Although we have no evidence of the number of minors who were drinking, we will also charge the owner of the disco as the Liquor Act prohibits admission of minors into any establishment selling alcohol.” – Wanjama
Just a few weeks ago, 550 minors were caught getting drunk and having sex when police and officials from the Alcoholic Drinks Control Board raided a bar in Eldoret. (Read the story below)
