How Inspiring! Meet The First Female Pilots In Zimbabwe Who Have Just Made History

History has been made in Zimbabwe. Captain Chipo M. Matimba and Captain Elizabeth Simbi Petros have become the first all-female crew in Zimbabwe a week ago. Air Zimbabwe took to Facebook to share the historic moments with its fans. The excited ladies also took to their social media to share their excitement.

Capt. Matimba said that they would paint the sky pink, perhaps signifying female power.

“History has been made! First all female flight deck crew on the Air Zimbabwe Boeing 737! Two CAPTAINS!! Absolute pleasure Captain Elizabeth Simbi Petros! #FLYBABES. #PaintingTheSkyPink!”.

Her counterpart Capt. Simbi did not hide her excitement either!

“Air Zim First:- All Women 737 Flight Deck Crew!!!! Flt to Vic Falls This Morning.Was A pleasure Skipper Chipo Matimba!!!!!!,” she beamed. Their first flight was from Harare to Victoria Falls.

Kenya’s Irene Koki Mutungi became the first female in Africa to fly the Boeing 787. She set an aviation record that has earned her wild fame, which resulted to her being among the Top 40 Under 40 women in Kenya in 2014. She also has her won Wikipedia page.

Earlier this year, Esther Mbabazi became the first female Rwandan pilot.
