As the preparations are underway to welcome the current Pope of the Roman Catholic Church in the country next week on Wednesday, the Vatican secretary of state hinted that Pope Francis’s security team will decide at the last minute whether to change his Africa itinerary due to the continued unrest in the Central African Republic.
According to the ANSA news agency, Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin said on Monday that: “The three stops remain, but we’ll see depending on the situation on the ground,”.
This Is Why Pope Francis Might Not Be Able To Travel To Kenya
Protecting the Pope in The Central African Republic will be a major security challenge as violence between Christians and Muslims continues in the capital, Bangui, and elsewhere ahead of December elections.
Francis is due to visit Kenya, Uganda and the Central African Republic from November 25-30.
