Alphonse Kambu a UN employee who battered the mother of his child Ruth Gakii leaving her with serious injuries has been arrested.

Kambu, a computer programmer with UNEP, was arrested earlier on today at Ridgeways estate Nairobi while leaving his house and taken to Kasarani police station where he is being held until Thursday when he will appear in court. His arrest comes barely a month after Kenyan women lead by women Rights Activist Diana Okello threatened to demonstrate if he is not arrested.

The Papua New Guinea nationality separated with the 26-year-old businesswoman two years ago but still mistreats her to date. Ruth told Mpasho that Alphonse has been offering her money to give up her son but she refused and that’s why he kept battering her.
While Rith was nursing injuries at Nairobi Women’s Hospital, Alphonse Kambu apologised to Gakii’s family saying his intention was not to hurt her, but her parents declined the apology and demanded Sh40 million compensation.
