A few weeks after the Strathmore University security drill that went horribly wrong, spreading panic across the campus and leaving scores of students injured and a subordinate staff member dead, the institution has acted. The varsity has fired the security director and suspended three senior officials as investigations continue.
The university has also disbanded the security committee and has started a recruitment drive in search of a “suitable security director”. It will also see a new evacuation procedure put in place.

As if that was not enough, Strathmore University is working with the Independent Police Oversight Authority to investigate the involvement of the police in the botched drill. The information was put out in a press statement sent to newsrooms:
