After a rare full body skin condition affected at least 20 children in North-eastern, most of them in Wajir, Sonko did not shy away from helping them out. The disease identified as ichthyosis presents symptoms of excessively painful, dry and scaly skin.
Misky Bulle and Abshir Salat – both 10 years-old – from Bute sub-county in Wajir North were referred to Kenyatta National Hospital for specialised treatment. Misky was airlifted to Nairobi last week while Abshir was referred to the hospital on Monday. Abshir was the most affected; the disease has eaten into his bones, disabling and disfiguring him.
