A video of a pilot assaulting a police woman in Nyandarua went viral on the morning of Tuesday, Feb 23, sending shock waves across the country.
The pilot by the name Alistair Llewelyn attacked corporal Mercy Wandera, apparently for failing to control a crowd that had surrounded and was taking pictures of the helicopter that had ferried Deputy President William Ruto for a church event in the area.

The mzungu pilot was so rude that he snatched the police woman’s baton and hit her with it. He apparently even tried to take away her phone.
This caused uproar on social media and saw Inspector general of police Joseph Boinnet, through a press statement, direct the pilot to surrender to police.
KIDL, the company which had subcontracted the helicopter later sent a press statement, apologizing for the unfortunate incident and declaring that it had since terminated the pilot’s services.

This afternoon, the rude pilot presented himself to the Kilimani Police station where he was expected to record a statement. Pictures taken at the station showed the distressed looking man waiting for his fate.
