Days are gone when the only means of transport was the long KBS buses. Back then you had no choice but to travel using them. They were all the same color, and without the route number you could easily end up boarding the wrong bus. But nowadays things have changed. The Matatu industry has seen rapid growth and this is something to smile about.
We now have more than 60,000 matatus operating on the different city routes, and this has greatly changed the lives of many especially the youth. It has created a lot of employment opportunities for drivers, touts and managers in the Matatu SACCOs.
Well, although all city estates have at least one or two fancy matatus they identify with, Rongai route 125/126 has proved to have the best matatus in the city. Their graffiti is amazing. Most of the Rongai matatus portray the African culture as many are named or associated with great African leaders.
