Kenya is one of the African countries with the highest number of street families. Each day, there’s an increase in the number of chokora especially in Nairobi County, and this is worrying. Most of them are forced to join the street families due to poverty or death of their parents/guardians.
Although not all chokora are bad, most of them are associated with violence and crime. Well, there’s a video doing the rounds on social media of a street child speaking fluent English, and this clearly shows that some of these kids are bright and only lack someone to take them to school. In the video, the chokora asks the government to give street children an opportunity to prove their worth.
