Gospel rapper Holy Dave, one of the legendary gospel acts who built the local music industry has been accepted into the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) program. The “Imani” rapper took to Facebook to share the news with his fans. YALI is an initiative that was started by POTUS Barack Obama back in 2010 to nurture young African leaders. It has so far been expanded to other locations, including Asia and the Caribbean.

Through the program, the participants get training in various sectors including entrepreneurship and civic leadership. When Obama came to Kenya for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit, he visited the training facility, which is located at Kenyatta University.

YALI represents Obama’s commitment to develop his home continent. For Holy Dave, this comes as a major achievement as he becomes the first Kenyan gospel artist to participate in the program and announce it publicly.
