For thse of you with the memory of a goldfish, there is an area of Nairobi where not too long ago, a pilot was robbed and killed. Most guys call it Makaburini. It is an old World War 1 memorial cemetry right where Upper Hill meets Industrial Area and Nyayo Stadium.
This place has for a long time had a reputation for being a hotspot for violent, mindless crime and I for one dread ever finding myself stuck here given police officers too seem to give the area a wide berth.
And the incident I am about to talk you about is no different from a very long-winded reading of other incidences that happen here. For you see, a university lass was abducted and dragged into the cemetery and raped.
A suspected rapist was last night shot dead and a university student freed in an attack at the Makaburini area, Uhuru Park in Nairobi. His accomplice managed to escape on foot as police arrived there. The rapists had held the female student hostage and had started to rape her when police who had been tipped by her boyfriend arrived there. Police say the gang had called the girl’s boyfriend and demanded Sh10,000 as ransom before they could release her before he sought the help of police. Police took the woman to hospital as the hunt for the other rapist go on. The area is notorious with rapists and police warn for caution on pedestrians.
