A fourth-year male student at Moi University was last night stabbed to death by his colleague during a fight over a girlfriend at a hostel in Eldoret town. This comes barely a week after a 25-year-old footballer and University of Nairobi student was murdered by his 19-year-old girlfriend in a domestic brawl.

Langas OCPD Jane Muhoro said the assailant who is also a first-year student was arrested after the incident. She said the deceased went to visit the lady at her hostel but found the first year in the room, leading to a fight.

The assailant dashed to the kitchen where he picked a knife and stabbed the fourth-year colleague in the stomach and chest repeatedly, killing him on the spot. Cases of university students being involved in love triangles have been rampant of late and we truly hope this issue will be addressed. It’s sad to see the nation lose young people.
