Successful Kenyan Women Making Money On The Internet (Part 2)

There is nothing as inspiring as an independent and intelligent lady. Women who do not wait for opportunities; those who go get them are the ones I am talking about. Some of them end up being CEOs of big corporations, think of Nigerian businesswoman Folorunsho Alakija, who is among the richest women in Africa.

Here in Kenya, we have many ladies who have carved out niches in their fields and emerged winners. I already featured two in case you missed out on part one of this series.

Next on this list are two amazing women who I totally admire. I am sure you’ll be inspired, too.

Julie Gichuru

She’s a household name in Kenya as her many identify with her as one of the most successful media personalities in Kenya. Julie is also the proprietor of MIMI Online shop, a premier fashion brand that has become a Kenyan celebrity’s favorite. The pricing of the outfits and accessories can tell you that she’s making some good cash. She has also managed to have budding style bloggers and influencers as part of her networking strategy.

Fit Kenyan Girl

Back in 2008 when she was a 27 year old, Jane Mukami had a wake up call. She says that just like any other young person, she thought she could eat anything and get away with it. She was gaining weight rapidly and her outfits were becoming harder to fit it. She also had an expanding waistline. Things were running out of hand.

From it, she started a recovery journey by trying out the various weight loss and healthy body methods. She would seek advice from experienced people. She’s now the most respected female fitness instructor in Kenya. Her Facebook page, has over 39K likes and she sells eBooks. Her Facebook group, “10 Day Body Detox – Jane Mukami” has over 37K members.

These two are ladies who have made the most out of the power of being connected online. They’re making a living. So there’s this really cool digital literacy training program that is teaching Kenyan women and young girls on how to explore and make use of online opportunities.

The Intel She Will Connect program is the initiative I am talking about. Through their online community africa.shewillconnect.intel.com, they connect women so that they can share vibrant ideas, get training on the online digital space, the value of being connected, how their lives can change with these opportunities and so much more.

All you need to do is create a profile and start your journey to success. Just recently, Intel held a workshop at their offices. It was attended by women from all walks of life and the program’s ambassador, media personality Adelle Onyango. Be sure to check out the photos, just for your inspiration. All the best!
