6 Stupidest Reasons Kenyan Students Have Given For Going On Strike

The Kenyan government has apparently initiated a consultative meeting to try and address the issue of strikes in Kenyan schools which have resulted in the loss of properties worth millions and even death.

5 Strikes That You Can Expect in Kenya Every Year

In the past six months alone, students have burnt dormitories in over 20 schools across the country.

So what are some of these stupid reasons students have given for going on strike?

#1. Euro 2016 – As stupid as this might seem, Iterio Boys High School students burnt seven out of 11 dormitories with all their belongings because they were allegedly denied the chance to watch the ongoing Euro 2016 matches.School_Kenya

 

#2. Denied KCSE Leakage – Students of Onjiko Boys High School in Ahero, Kisumu county damaged their school bus, school laboratory and other buildings after attempts to have the school administration aide them get exam leakage to the 2016 KCSE exams failed.kcse-results

 

#3. Ghosts – Students of Gikiiro Mixed Secondary School in Mbeere South burnt down two dormitories to “exorcise ghosts”, starting off with a boys’ dormitory before turning on to that of the girls.School_Kenya

 

#4. Food – Embu’s Nguvio Boys went on a rampage, destroying property after they were barred from eating directly from sufurias.  The students were claiming that the food provided by the school was always bad.School_Kenya

 

#5. Teachers –  Students of Thomas Fisher Secondary school in Kajiado turned their anger on teachers forcing them to flee the school after they broke their head teacher’s hand and also left the school’s head of discipline with severe head injuries and a broken shoulder blade.
