A wife who loses a husband is called a widow. A husband who loses a wife is called a widower. A child who loses his parents is called an orphan. But there is no word for a parent who loses a child.
You can imagine what’s going through the parents of the late seven university students who perished in the gory Kisii accident after the car they were travelling in collided with a lorry last weekend but one.

Well, over the weekend, Ms Mary Wanjiru Maina, one of the ladies who died in the horrific Kisii accident was laid to rest in Boimann village in Nyandarua West at her parent’s farm in Gathanji Ward. The 19-year-old Kenyatta University student was given a heroic send-off and many described her as a passionate, humble and hardworking lady.
