Just a few days ago, the Kenyan and British military launched a joint military exercise for the first time in five years. The exercise comes after Kenya and the United Kingdom renewed a 40-year-old agreement that allowed British soldiers to resume training on Kenyan soil.

According to reports, about 10,000 British troops are allowed to train in Kenya following last year’s agreement reached by President Uhuru Kenyatta and former UK Prime Minister David Cameron, after a five-year diplomatic stand-off.
The new defence agreement between the two entities is said to allow Kenya to prosecute British soldiers who commit crimes while in Kenya. It is believed that the Kenya Defence Forces stand to continue benefiting greatly from the cutting edge skills of their British counterparts, who rank highly in the world military power pecking order.

The training happens a few weeks after KDF elite units shared skills with troops serving in the Jordanian Armed Forces in an exercise dubbed Eagle Swift.
