I’m Sure Most Of You Did Not Know This Surprisingly Awesome Thing About Kenya [Video]

Being better at what you do takes time. As it is perfectly placed, the more time a plane spends on the runway, the furthest it goes. In Kenya, this scenario can be applied by youth in talent development.

That’s what Macklemore’s trumpeter Owuor Arunga put in mind. He took 3 years to perfect his skills in making such amazing notes. He says that at first, they sounded like ‘farts,’ but he did not give up. Moving on, he practised as much as he could to be where he is today;

Arunga said that the best Kenyan artiste he worked with in Season 2 of the show was rapper Rabbit. He says that they both share the love for hip hop and would love to see him winning.

Earlier on this year, the famed trumpeter who appeared in Macklemore’s “Can’t Hold Us” held a bloggers training. He met local talented bloggers and shared a word of advice with them.

“Whoever works the most – wins the most. Take things and create something out of it – that’s the Kenyan spirit,” he told them. Apart from that, he has also been meeting local artistes and sharing tips with them on how to make it internationally in music.

““There are so many writers in Nairobi who are intellectually stimulated, it’s important to use your entrepreneurial skills additionally. It’s till untapped,” he added. WOW.

That’s such a sweet thing to say about the country. Most Kenyan bloggers are perceived to be douchebags that are all about fame. However, most of us are IQ-drenched.

This was facilitated by Coke Studio Africa, a musical show that brings together top African musical acts to work together, create music, network and plot towards taking the African beat to another level.
