Nakwambia Mungu sio athumani! The British citizen who allegedly shot his clande in one of Nairobi’s leafy suburbs, Karen, has been charged with murder. The 53-year-old “sponsor” known as Richard Alden was accused of allegedly shooting and killing Grace Wangechi at his home.
The suspect, who is a former Wananchi Group CEO, appeared in court today where he pleaded not guilty to the charges. Wananchi Group owns the Zuku satellite television and Internet brand. Richard’s lawyers applied for bail saying “the accused is not a flight risk”. But the prosecution asked for more time to prepare their application to oppose the bail.

Making the ruling, high court judge Stella Mutuku said it was proper to give the prosecution time to prepare for the application. Richard has been remanded until June 16. He has been in the country since 2015 and his work permit expires December 2017. He was previously arraigned in court on Monday but not charged.
The former CEO was arrested on Saturday after reporting that the woman he had spent most of the day with shot herself dead in his house, while taking a selfie with his gun. The Briton reported the incident at Karen police station. Grace, 42, was shot in the stomach.
